Hi,

If you can't shift into gear from park, there is an issue with the park interlock system. Don't laugh, but do the brake lights work properly? The release actuator receives power from the brake light switch to release. Battery voltage is supplied at all times through "fuse 47" to the brake switch. With the ignition in "on" (II) or "start" (III), battery voltage is supplied through "fuse 9" (in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box) to the shift lock solenoid.

This is where I would start. I need you to check both of the fuses I indicated. I attached a few pics to help with identification. Let me know if they help. Also, here is a link you may find helpful:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Have a 1998 Honda Accord with 140,000km on the clock.. My central locking works fine when i push the lock down. However, when use the remote, all doors lock (or unlock) except the drivers side door. Therefore i have to lock the drivers side door by pushing down the lock, and when getting into the car i have to use the key... Just wondering wat problem this might be and how i can take the door apart to fix it. Help would be much appreciated.

You need to replace the lock actuator on the driver side. Take out the screws in the door pull and the inside door handle. The bottom of the door should be unsnapped with a slight pressure from a screwdriver slide along the bottom. This guide can help us fix it.

Please run down this guide and report back.

While driving down the interstate about 80, my immobilizer light began flashing and my car jerked a little. I pulled to the side, and all the lights on my dash came on. I then turned the car off, and right back on. It started up fine and seems okay now- I made it about 20 more miles to work but I commute 80 miles round trip so I don't want to risk it happening again. What could be going on??

Hi bananuh,

Something is not providing the correct contact and it is not easy to isolate the cause.

I would suggest checking the beltings and alternator charging rate. Check for loose or contaminated connectors and bad grounding straps.

My passenger rear door does not respond at all to the keyless entry remote or the lock switch on drivers door to lock all doors. I have to manually lock and unlock it. Recently, I have noticed that the keyless entry system seemed sluggish. It would open the doors but it sounded weak like it was really struggling to do so. Now it is barely working at all. I have brand new batteries in the remote so i know that isn't the problem... any ideas?

Hi sayre2242,

When the doors locks are sluggish, it is usually because the actuators are weak or the power supply connections are poor or the battery is weak.

It has nothing to do wit the remote batteries. You need to check the door lock actuators linkages for proper lubrication.

With regard to the one door that does not respond, that one actually had the actuator go out. Sounds like the rest are getting weak.

With regard to the battery in the remote, many of us by the battery from say Walmart. I have had experience with weak batteries from them. But like KHLow stated the weak battery is not the issue.

One of the most common cause of such problems are due to door switches. It could be a faulty door switch or its cover, doors out of adjustment or the hood switch.

Sit inside vehicle and close all doors with room light set to turn on when doors are opened. You may leave the windows open. Gently push at lower rear portion of each door inner panel and note if the room light comes on. For any that turns the room light on, you need to check the door switch and door adjustment.

The hood switch should be checked as well.

Hi sissygirl,

When it does not start, were the dashlights showing?
Were you able to crank the engine?
Was the security key light blinking?

When problem occurs and starting is not possible, you need to check if it is ignition, ie. sparks or fuel that is not available.

Here is a link from which you can understand how to check for missing sparks or fuel.

https://www.2carpros.com/kpages/first_things.htm

Let me know what you find. From your description, it is possible the fuel pump or its circuit is intermittently malfunctioning. It coud be a faulty ignition switch as well.

Hi chuck4271,

The triggering points are the door and hood switches. Check if any of them are not functioning well or if any doors are out of alignment which would trigger the alarm if there are any movements due to external forces. eg wind, vibration when heavy vehicles moves by.

If equipped with vibration/impact sensors, you need to recalibrate it.

Hi Kirby18,

Thank you for the donation.

The factory alarm cannot be disabled as it is linked to many other components such as the central locking etc.

For the alarm to go off randomly, the cause are usually the door or hood switches. Check if any of the doors are out of adjustment or door switches rubber cover are missing.

If any of the door ajar indicator is intermittently blinking, that is the door that the problem is coming from. If they do not occur, the most likely source would be the hood switch.

Hi andrew rivera,

For safety reasons, the clutch is required to be depressed while starting manual transmissions.

If you wish to install an auto start, you need to ensure that the transmission is always in neutral when the system is operated.

An additional relay to bypass the clutch switch would be required.

My car was stolen. When i got it back the motor in the drivers seat was gone. I cant reach the pedals now. Is there anyway to manually move the seat? They also broke my power locks. When i try to lock the drivers side by the keyless entry or pushing the lock down it makes a really wierd noise. Is there a way to cut off the power so i can manually lock it. i dont car about have power seats or locks i just want to be able to reach the pedals and lock the doors. Thanks for the help.

Hi rhaentj,

The power lock producing a weird noise is usually cause by a faulty door lock actuator. The gears are overshooting and actuator is not stopping in time.

To disable the power lock, you can remove the underhood # 38 fuse or unplug the power door lock control unit in the driver's door, behind the panel.

Without the seat motor, you would have to use something to manually turn the motor linkage for adjusting the seat, located under the seat, to get the seat forward.

Hi bbyers,

TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING
1. Open driver's door. Press and hold driver's master power door lock switch in the UNLOCK position. Within 10 seconds, insert and remove key from ignition switch 5 times. On the sixth key insertion, leave key in ignition switch. All doors should unlock, indicating system is now in programming mode.
2. Press either button on the transmitter. All doors except driver's door will lock and unlock indicating system has accepted transmitter into its memory. If either transmitter button is pressed again, all doors will lock and unlock.
3. To program a second transmitter, press either button on that transmitter. The doors will lock and unlock indicating that the second transmitter has been accepted into the system memory. Release driver's master door lock switch.
4. To exit the programming mode, close driver's door or remove key from ignition switch. Check door lock operation at both front door locks. If door locks door not function properly, repeat programming procedure.
