Engine Performance problem
1982 AMC Eagle 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

car idles fine but when u put it in gear it tries to go dead an when u give it gas it dies.

This could be any number of concerns, the first and most basic is when was your last complete tune up? I am talking wires, plugs, PCV all filters? If no codes are present start with the basic stuff, just like the 50's! Let me know where you stand with it after the tune up...
