Alternator replacement/swap?

Will i be able to use an alternator from a Malibu max? Their engines are the same.

Hello, the Maxx seems to have quite a few more electrical components (options) so you would have to look up what the stock Malibu Alternator amperage output is and what the Maxx uses, All Data service info only lists 1 Chev Malibu 3.5. But with added electrical components and also, I see one model listed somewhere uses a turbocharger as well, there might be a difference in amperage output.

This is the number listed on All Data as the OEM part number 15794597 (115amp) for the 3.5 liter. Try to find the number on the old one if you still have it. I think you'll be ok, because even if the Maxx is a 125amp, it won't hurt your vehicle to go from a 115 to a 125.
