Alternator will not adjust. It hits the block before will go on. Neither one has been removed from the car. Pulley bolts came out, were replaced, alternator will not adjust enough to reinstall belt even with adjuster removed.

Good afternoon,

Does this have a serpentine belt with a slack adjuster or do you adjust it manually?

Did you make sure the diameter of the pulley on the replacement is the same size as the original unit?

Alternator/water pump belt came off. With adjuster on alternator maxed out, belt will not go back on. Belt path appears to be clear of obstructions and belt is not riding up on flange. The belt never was removed from the car nor the alternator nor the water pump. Alternator lower pivoting mount is still secure. Help!

Hello, I'm Danny.

Just a question first. Has the belt been replaced? If so maybe too large a belt was purchased and is too large to be adjusted. Here is a tutorial showing how to replace a serpentine belt:

I've attached below a diagram showing the belt routing.Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for using 2CarPros.
