For just a several minutes the engine is running at idle speed with all loads on (lights, hazard, etc, no aircon, radio) the alternator is so hot that if to touch, my hand cannot sustain for about two (2) seconds. What could be the problem. I already fixed the loose wires thinking that it is the cause however, the problem exists. Can you please help me on this one? Thank you so much and more power!

Thank you Roy for the immediate reply! I forget to tell you on my first post that I had just replaced the alt. Although it is not a new one because of the year model of my car, I find it hard to look for a same alternator especially with my location. So, I bought a surplus alternator previously installed in a Toyota Lucida? I made some minor modifications on the mounting only, but not on the inside of the alternator itself, i.E. Replaced the pulley from the old one to the surplus alt.

I figured it out already! During connections, inadvertently I interchanged the I terminal of the alternator and the S terminal. Thank you anyway for the answers Roy!
