Alternator connector?

The original alternator connector had 2 wires coming from it. The new one has 3 and the battery light is still on and the lights strength and weaken with acceleration.

Looking at the wiring, there should be three wire terminals in the connector with two being used. I would verify where the wires are, and that the connector is okay.
