Alternator belt?

Hi, we had to take our car to a garage 4 month ago and apparently the alternator belt had come off we paid 260 pound... fast forward last week and the car started to screech and then had a warning light for the battery saing the charging system had failed..

Yep, is sounds like the belt has failed again but you need to check the belt tensioner and while the belt is off rotate the accessories by hand to make sure that are not locking up or have a bearing that is going out. This can be what is causing the problem with the belt. Can you upload an image of the problem from under the hood so I can see it?

Your belt likely failed again. When they replaced the belt did they also change the belt tensioner? It is possible that is also bad or went bad after the fact. If you can upload a photo of the problem area it can better assist us.
