I’m just trying to figure out if I should get an alternator that is made for the 4x4 136amp or just get the normal 2wd alternator. My truck is a 4x4. I just want to be sure I’m not trying to ask a stupid question.

Hello thanks for using 2CarPros. It won't hurt anything to get a higher output alternator. Especially if you're using your truck to pull heavier loads or running any type of system that will pull higher amps like an audio system. Not a stupid question at all. Just make sure you get the correct alternator for your truck, I'm assuming they're offering 2 different alternators for your truck at the parts store?

Well the website (rockauto. Com) has 2 different options and one says 4x4 136 amp but the other one is just a normal alternator. I just wanted a opinion on which one I should get.

Yes, I've gotten parts from them before too. I don't think you're going to notice a difference either way. Like I said, if you're going to be loading the system and pulling more amps for whatever reason, then go with the 136 amp. Unless it's a huge price difference and you're looking to save money.
