I am going to pick and pull to find an alternator for my car and I was wondering how do I inspect a used alternator to make sure it works?

This is going be one of those.

Either take it to an auto parts store to be "run" on their alternator/ starter machine, usually for no charge (preferred way)

or

Install it on the vehicle and try it (if it is bad, you are going to have to uninstall it!)

There' is no other magic way without it being hooked up and spun.

I hope that did help.

If you have to have a new/ re manufactured unit, I might be able to show you how to save up to $40-$50 on it.

Let us know how it is all working out.

Is there any where I could inspect on a used alternator before buying it?
Could I really save $50.00 on a new one? They're like $160.00 on O'Reillys and Auto Zone I would love to how to save money on a new part.

When you finish this answer

Tell me that "I am the man!"

Maybe this store is within your region, if not, they do mail orders too!

This will help you and your friends forever!

This whole deal is using Advance Auto Parts (other stores may work similar) See my link. Even though this is an older post, some of the codes are not usable anymore. The technique still works fine! Read it and understand the deal. Any questions before you do it, just ask!

I went ahead and did a "Dry Run" for you using the best promo code I have been using. I have saved thousands doing this and so have my friends! See the picture below!

Meant to say

Order and pay online

Pick stuff up at the store in thirty minutes!

Insure you "check" the "PICK UP AT STORE" box (not ship to home) and it is the Store you chose for the pick up. That is if you are not ordering it to come to your house.

I found one at pick n pull for $35.00 and I took it to O'Reillys and they said it runs great. Thank you for the tip. Saved a ton of times.
