How do you change alternator. Looks like you have to pull whole front off car.

Volkswagen does NOT provide a removing and installing procedure for the alternator on this vehicle.

Additional access to the alternator can be obtained in a number of ways:

Removing the lock carrier.
Loosening the motor mount and slightly raising the motor.

Caution! Damage to wiring and hoses may occur if stretched or pulled tight while raising motor.
