Engine behaves like it is going to shut off?

I'm car acts like it wants to shut off, and my gauges are all over the place. I on hooked the alternator and it stayed running, could it be a fuse?

Which gauges are all over the place? Also, if the battery is still connected, the alternator itself won't shut off the vehicle.

As far as a stalling issue, most often it is caused by an engine vacuum leak. If you haven't checked for that, start there.

Also, if the check engine light is staying on, we need to have the computer scanned to identify what trouble codes are stored.
