I replaced driver's rear brake light after getting stopped. (Policeman could not reproduce "tail light out" that he stopped me for, but told me to take care of it. So Autozone changed the bulb)

Soon thereafter, friend behind me at night noticed that ALL the rear lights go out on the driver's side when I stop (brake). Same side I changed out the bulb. Fuses look ok. This only happens when the head lights are on! Wondering about a shorting out of crossed wires?? Wiring "looks" ok, but...it's a 95 toyota pickup, single owner. My life-time mechanic is no longer around.

Anything else I should check?
Where to go to fix the problem?
Thanks,
