I own a 1990 740 GLE Volvo, 16 valves, with 145,000 miles. I had the under carriage bearing replaced 1500 miles ago because of a grinding noise which was diagnosed as the bearing.
Now, when I drive the car, I hear a whine at 55mph which goes away at 65-70mph. The whine started the day after the bearing replacement when I got to 55mph.
I took it back, but was told that the source of the whining noise could not be determined. They also informed me ,at that time, that the new bearing was OK.
Did they replace the bad bearing with another bad bearing or did they possibly cause the noise by doing something they weren't aware of such as not putting it on correctly.
Is it OK to drive?
