Mercedes Benz Temperature Guage problem

Mercedes Benz 200, 109982 miles on the clock. Manual transmission. The temperature guage slams full up when the ignition is turned on. Even if I disconnect the lead from the sender unit I get the same result. I replaced the sender unit and get the same result. What else could be the problem?

Hi there,

There is a short to earth in the circuit for the gauge, an auto electrician is your best option to trace it down.
