I have a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora, with a V-8 LHS engine and 129,750 miles. My battery is at 13.5 volts, but the starter won't crank. Is my starter dead? If so, where is it located?

Starter is probably the culprit. Look where the engine block connects to the transmission. The starter is attached to the block at this juncion and has a thick wire hooked to it. Remove it and have it tested before you buy a new one.
