I recently bought a citreon xsara diesel 1.9 LX estate, 1999 5 door model, none of the doors will lock either automaticaly or maually with the key, the rear pessenger doors will lock if I press in the lock buttons manually and close the doors, and will then unlock automaticaly if I press the auto operation key fob, any ideas please.

No experience with you car but will put in my 2 cent.
Sure you have the right key?
Will the lock button in the car work? Is the fuse good? Is the relay good?
Sounds like your remote needs new batteries or replaced.

Let us know. :)

I have the same car and had the same problem. How very frustrating and uncomfortable to have to lock back doors through the front then lock the front door and then lock the driver door with the key, that’s if it works. And repeat it many times every day. I was sure that it had something to do with electrics wires, a short-cut of some sort. At the garage they mentioned the CPU, some automated switch, maybe some other controller, etc, etc.
As they could not give me a price I was reluctant to give them the car so that they can investigate.
Instead I investigated it myself and had it fixed for less than  4 only 15 minutes and only because I chose to buy a set of pliers.
Now, open both front doors. You need to disconnect and than pull out (inside the pillar) the wires that run from the pillar and into the door. It is a bunch of wires for speakers, windows and central locking. The wires inside the pillar will be either snapped or damaged. I used the short wire connectors and special pliers that electricians use to connect the wires.
No problems since.
Good luck.
