99 Grand AM GT Problems

99 Grand AM GT-V6- 110,000 miles

I live in the UP which gets very cold, so I left my car running as I ran into my house. When I came back my car was turned off. I tried restarting it, no luck. I tried charging the battery and jumping it, still no luck. I am told it might be the battery, it might be the alternator. The engine does not turn over, but the interior, brake, and headlights do turn on when the key is in the ignition, but shut off immediately when the key is turned. My car WAS running and there WAS gas, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Please help!

Probably a batery, how old is it?
