99 4 runner broke gas access cable

The cable that releases the door to my gas cap has broke and was wondering how to access the cable. Any help is appreciated. Thanx

If you pull the side panel off on the side of the filler pipe you'll probably see the other end of the cable. Usually these things break right at the handle. The plastic handle gets weak from years of service.
