96 Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4 Front Differential

Front differential is messed up, drive shaft missing likely because the diff is loaded with metal chips and makes a loud grinding sound. I am willing to permanently diasable the front wheel drive and just live with rear wheel. Can I do this? How? Is there a problem with this solution? I bought the truck for $1800 and all is good but this. It isnt worth the money to fix it. ? Help.

No there is not a problem with doing so. First take the front drive shaft out. Then remove the front diff cover and clen out all metal. Replace cover and fill with gear oil.
