I was given a 87 mecury lynx with 163,000 miles on it. It is a 4 spd straight drive with the 1.9L central fuel injection. My problem is that the car is hard to start when cold and once started its hard to get it to idle. Also when cruising down the road it will suddenly lose power and act like it wants to die. I have done a tune, which means plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I have also changed the air inhtake sensor. My next step is to change the fuel filter. Please any and all information would be helpful.

changing the fuel filter is a great idea, but it may effect it running all the time. There may be a cold start injector that isn't working. YOu should really take it to a pro instead of dumping all the money into it. Also check to see what the fuel pressure is as that may be low..
