I just noticed that my car heater motor only works on High speed, there is a telltale clicking like it's trying to work on the first three speeds. question is:

Where is the heater motor so i can check the motor for voltage coming in.Just below the glove box I see what looks like the bottom of a motor with some wires going in. yes----no?

the problem is in the resistor. i know in some ealier models the resistor is located behind the dash at the very top in the center, right near the windsheild. when a resistor goes bad you'll loose the other fan speeds. i would change out the blower motor too. it's been known that the blower motor can cause the resistor to go bad.

Suggested Repair

Replace the blower motor resistor, which commonly fails and leaves only high speed. Also replace the blower motor, since a failing motor can cause the resistor to fail. On some earlier models the resistor is behind the dash at the top center near the windshield.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 2002 Durango reports the heater blower works only on high, with clicking on the lower speeds, and asks where the motor is to check incoming voltage. The expert says a bad resistor causes loss of the other fan speeds and recommends replacing both the resistor and the blower motor.
