2000 Questions for all other cars Manual 60000 miles

i have a 1.1 citroen saxo which has started to rev very loudly even when my foot is no where near the accelerator. it also pulls away from me then almost pulls itself back like a long drawn out bunnyhop that i have no control over. i can sometimes stop the revving by going in to a lower gear and over revving the engine. any ideas?

Something is wrong with the idling system.

Check for vacumn leakages, stuck accelerator cables or throttle valve.
