1998 regal ls noise on right turn 92k 3.8L

1998 ALL OTHER MAKES ALL OTHER MODELS

making a right turn while in motion i get a metallic scraping sound. if i turn the motor off in the turn the sound goes away. straight and to the left no noises. stationary at idle no noise either way. mechanic thinks its either the harmonic balancer or the lower motor mount. thank you

Sounds to me like the l/f wheel bearing.In a right turn all the load is placed on the outside wheel.The engine running is the only part that sounds strange.

hmmm. yeah the engine running or not it should still make the noise. i would also look at the front brakes. make sure the wear indicators on the pads are not rubbing on the rotor. if so, replace the pads. also make sure the backing plate isn't rubbing against the rotor. hope this is helpful :)

check your right stabilizer link,
check also the top of the right spring is an insulator, it may wear out.
