I have let the oil run dry in my car, and now I have refilled it, the car is making loud clicking noise on acceleration

Hi zeal2,

The symptoms points to worn conrod bearings due to lack of lubrication.

Most probably the engine needs a rebuild. Replacing the conrod bearings might reduce the noise but there is a possibility the crankshaft journals are worn and it won't last.
