Manual or Automatic?

If it is manual, there should be a bolt/plug, about 1 1/8", on the passenger side of the transmission. Fill it so the oil flows out of the hole and put the plug back in. Done.

Automatic, if you have a dipstick tube, you can just pour it down there. Just be sure to not over fill it.

Suggested Repair

Identify whether the transmission is manual or automatic. On a manual, remove the roughly 1-1/8 inch fill plug on the passenger side, fill until fluid begins to flow out, and reinstall the plug. On an automatic with a dipstick tube, add fluid through the tube and do not overfill.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1998 Isuzu Trooper could not find where to add transmission oil. The expert explained that a manual transmission is filled through a passenger-side plug until fluid overflows, while an automatic is filled through the dipstick tube without overfilling.
