My son has a 1990 Maxima, 4cyl. The battery went dead and when we tried to jump start the car, an alarm sounds each time we hook up the jumper box. What are we doing wrong?
Note: The cables were hooked up correctly.

I basically have the same problem, except no alarm. The battery/electrical system just craps out, especially when it gets cold out. Does this happen in all types of weather or just the cold?

It could be that Maximas that are as old as ours are (mine is a 95) just begin to have failing electrical systems after X amount of miles/years. Sorry I wasn't much help, but I just wanted you to know that other people out there have the same problem

Okay I got the 2nd person said more victimsstepping forward. Now u all got my attention.
Look we work on 70 % nissan.U guys cars are old.U gotta be kidding me. We had 69 datsun 510, 70's 240Z that sat at the middle of a cornfield for 3 years and bought to us and we still make it run. No problem. Just sit tight. This is a power and ground issue. Good terminal, battery and cable will start ur car no matter what. Worse come to worse just jump ur solenoid and I quarantee u guy ur motor will spin. Is this clear enuff or else email me and I'll walk u thru a 12 point power and ground test to tail ur problem. Hows that sound?
