Hi,

I need to know if the transmission that was used is from the same year, make, and model. I ask because there was a change between the mid to late 1980's truck transmission designs. This truck would have had a transmission control module (TCM) which determine shifting, line pressures, range sensor (which determine the gear selected), as well as input and output speed sensors. If the transmission that was used is designed differently, the TCM may not be receiving accurate information from sensors to determine shift points.

If you look at pic 1, it shows a pressure regulator switch which would have been on your transmission. On earlier models, this may or may not have been used. In pic 2, it shows a speed sensor that may be different or none existent.

If possible, let me know if the trans used is a 4L60 or the 700R4 and if they were the same.

Let me know if the parts were from the same year and model.

Also, please feel free to ask questions.

Take care,
Joe
