I have a 1984 Trans AM with a 305 Engine it has 65,000 miles on it. One day I was going up a hill like 35 miles an hour and it should have been a easy pull for the car cause I usually go like 50 miles an hour up the hill. But the car just stopped and want start again. It spits gas up from the carburator! And if you touch the gas pedal then it will spit flames from the carburator. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

. Well, my words are not gospel but it sounds to me
like you might be having timing troubles. If it happened all of a sudden the timing chain may have just let go. Backfiring through the carb ussually means something is off in this area. However, this is just the thoughts of a shadetree mech but this is where I would start looking to begin with. Good luck.
