1976 Questions for all other cars V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have a HX Holden wagon, when I put it into gear and let the clutch out nothing happens. When the car is running I can put it in first without the clutch in and still nothing happens? Any suggestions?

Cheers Luke

Hi there,

Do you have pedal pressure? These are mechanical clutches so check the cable & linkages. If you have no drive at all there is a good chance that the clutch plate has destroyed the center hub, or you have a broken in put shaft which is not unknown with the M21 gear boxes.

OK.

Then the problem will be with the clutch plate hub. Or in the gear box, either way the box will have to come out to inspect.

Hi luke,

If just a clutch plate not that much but I would be fitting a full kit & machining the fly wheel. If a gear box issue and you have broken a shaft, this will get a bit expensive, if this is the case, you should hunt down a WB 4 speed or a HZ M 21 box and have it re raced often 6 Cyl M20 box's end up in the V8's and they don't last.
