Hi,

I have a 1970 vw beetle I am restoring, I want to repair the transmission because of leaks, noises and 4th gear problems.

I would like to know if it can be done at home and if any special tools are needed. A specialist was charging $600.00 for this. I told him that I'll take my chances opening it up for inspection and replacing the syncros, etc.

Any recommendations!!!

Thank you,

Angel

My books don't go back that far. Here is a suggestion. Go to the library and see if they have a VW repair book. Try a parts store. I love the old beetles and they were easy to work on. Good luck!
