Alignment or Just Replace?

So my car has just over 240,000 miles on the original suspension. The tires are currently wearing on the inside tread pretty heavily. My conundrum is, should I pay to get an alignment and possibly have them tell my tie rods are shot, and possibly other components? Or should I just replace the tie rods and the shocks and then get an alignment since it would need it anyway after that? I am fairly confident that I can do the replacement myself. Thoughts?

I would have an alignment done and they will tell you if you have anything worn to where the alignment can't be done and go from there. 240k go GM! Let me know what they say.
