Alarm system disabled door lock settings

By accident the security button on my key fob was pressed multiple times from our back yard. My husband didn’t know why the car alarm was continuing to go off. He doesn’t remember all the things he did to try and turn the alarm off without the key. The windows were down and he did reach in and tried to unlock the door.
As a result my door lock setting no longer work. I can’t get my front doors to lock or unlock without the actual metal key. I’ve adjusted in settings without success. I turned off all door lock setting and then entered the settings again.
What can I do?

It sounds like you just completely disabled the passive entry system. Unfortunately there is not a published procedure on how to correct it but I suspect there will be some codes in the computer. So I would suggest starting with that.

Here is a guide that walks through the basics. However, I don't know if this is going to correct your issue. It may require a trip to the dealer to reactive it. You more than likely have what is called a smart key and this is part of the issue. There isn't any info on disabling or arming the system. Sorry I can't be of more help but this is just not a normal situation.

Let me know if there are codes and that will get us on the right path. Thanks

You need a scan tool to read the computer and it will give you a code and short description. If you then tell me what those codes are I can give you the detail testing that needs to happen or tell you what the most likely cause is if it is obvious.

If you don't have a scan tool, then most parts stores can retrieve the codes for you.
