I have an airbag (srs) system light that comes on every now and then- sometimes I'll drive for a few weeks and it won't come up, sometimes it comes up every time I turn on the car, sometimes it comes up after driving for several minutes.

Mechanic pulled up the code and it showed to be the left side airbag on the driver side.

I have installed a front and rear dashcam in the car, and the cable is running in the a pillar and along the left headliner of the car- part of it is touching the airbag itself, would this cause the code to come up?

Do you know the actual code number? That might say if it's a connection or wiring issue depending on the code details. However it is possible that the cable installation could have moved a connector, but normally they have two locks on the airbag connections so they don't come apart. How did you run the cable? Removed the bag and put the cable in or just fed it behind it or tucked it behind the trim? Do you notice any pattern, like it comes on more if you hit rough roads or bumps? Heat? Cold? I would probably pull the trim and look at the cable, it might be rubbing on a screw or clip and damaged it. That is repairable. Or it could be something in the bag itself like a shorted squib or open circuit. SRS are not fun to deal with. I would check it out ASAP, especially if it's around the driver. If it goes off without warning it can hurt a person a lot.
