Getting a message saying 'Service Air Bag' and light for passenger side showing seat and airbag come on. This only happens intermittently.

Any ideas? Possible it's something I can fix myself?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help.

Good afternoon,

There is a fault code stored for this issue. I need the code so I can help narrow it down to an area of failure.

You can go to a parts store and they will read the code for free.

Here is how you can get the codes please follow this video. You can get a code reader for about $35.00 on amazon. Nine times out of ten it will be the clock spring behind the steering wheel but the code with tell us more.

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

I did code read at home, then had AutoZone and Advance Auto also do it. All 3 results are the same. No code

Is there a fuse or sensor that could never at fault or would it still be the Clock Spring?

Thanks,
D.

This is what shows on my dash.

*ignore the little yellow U with the ! in the middle. It just means I paid $4.00 four a tire gauge vs paying $300.00. for sensors to be put in the tires.

Okay if you have no codes, and I hope their scanner can read ABS codes, then you need to verify powers to the module. If you have all 3 powers to the module, then you need a module.

I attached a picture and a diagram for you to view.

Just called Advance and AutoZone - their scanners do not test ABS/airbag faults. As home reader said same, going to assume it doesn't either.

You will need a shop with a full scan tool that can read the codes for you.

No, but according to what you just posted, it will read the codes.

SRS is the airbag system.

Scanner finally arrived.

On SRS it says:

B0083-71 (1-1)
Left front impact SENSOR - invalidate data

Hello, I'm Danny.

Here is what you will need to do to test diagnose that particular code: This code is relevant to the SRS-SDM (supplemental restraint system-- sensing and diagnostic module) It sounds like you are having an issue with non-communication between the sensor to the module. I've attached step-by-step troubleshooting pictures to diagnose below. Hope this helps and let us know what you find. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Just to add to Danny's post, the most common issue is the sensor itself. I attached the location and procedure for you.
