My SUV's compressor by driver side back tire sometime turns on when driving which seems to make the truck lose power when accelerating. Can I pull the fuse under hood and still drive safe?

Hi,

The air ride system really should be operating at all times. I wouldn't suggest removing the fuse.

However, when the compressor turns on, it really shouldn't cause a power loss. By chance, have you had the computer scanned for codes, specifically the can-bus? CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the different modules are tied together via a few wires. If there is a diagnostic code related to this, it should indicate it.

Here is a link explaining how it is done:

If relevant codes are stored, they should start with the letter C. For example, a C0711 is a code specific to automatic level control. If possible, I recommend scanning the can-bus to see if something is stored. It may point you in the direction of the problem.

Let me know what is happening so I can better help you. For example, does one of the sides lose air?

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,

Joe
