Air distribution door actuator

My air will switch between heat and cold air and everything in between with no issues. The issue I am having is it will only blow out of the defrosters and will not switch between head air or feet. The light will come on saying that the air is blowing out of the feet vents but still only blows out the defroster. So I am looking for the actuator part that I need and location of it. I am not sure if it is just the ac heater blend door or it's own actuator. Any info is greatly appreciated as it is 105 degrees today!

This sounds like a bad mode or distribution door actuator. The blend door would be the one that selects the temperature of the air and you say it works properly.
To get to the mode actuator the service information says you need to remove or drop the steering column as the actuator is tucked into a pocket in the dash next to the area the steering column mounts. To do so you need to first remove the trim around the column. Then you will have an open area next to the column, at this point I would look over the way the actuator mounts and see if you can slip a hand and some small tools into the area to remove the actuator in an attempt to lower the amount of work needed.

This post covers the same issues as well as the temperature door:

The hardest part on column removal is that Ford hid the airbag connector above the column, works okay when they are building the car as the dash goes in after the column, not so good if you need to work on them after that as you need to use a mirror and angled pliers to reach them.
Then you remove the other wiring and then remove the column bolts, these are one time use bolts so you need to get the replacements from the dealer prior to removal.

Thank you so much! Do you happen to have a part number or anything for that? That is my biggest issue is finding the right part, I can only find the blend door actuator, unless it is the same part? Thanks again!

Should be a Motorcraft - GS7Z19E616A or YH1906 or YH2022. Depending on which is the newest version on the shelf as they keep updating them as they have faults. Not the same actuators as the blend door, or the recirculation door though, they wouldn't want to only have only one part, no money that way. LOL.

The thing about them is that many use the same internal parts, but they mount differently. Then there are others that look the same but don't have the same internal parts. Really gets to be a mess, makes me really want to go back to cables for the controls.
Let us know if you need more info and what you find. Thanks
