My automatic temperature controller is bad. Can I replace it with a manual one to save money? I want to know if it will work okay with it.

actually automatic temperature control has to be scanned with a scanner from a mechanic to see what the problem really is as it can be a sensor causing the problem and a manual one will not work with yours.
