It sounds like you may have a couple problems. First, the air flow direction is controlled by vent doors and a blend air door.

A/C Electronic Blend Door Actuator
The A/C electronic blend door actuator is located on the rear of the A/C evaporator housing.
Its function is to move the air temperature blend doors on command from the control assembly.

As far as the air flow direction, it is controlled by engine vacuum.
Vacuum Control Motors
The vacuum control motors:
are located on the A/C evaporator housing, A/C recirculating air duct and heater air plenum chamber direct system airflow to the vehicle interior as determined by the electronic automatic temperature control module or manual override

To check the for air flow direction problems, follow these steps. NOTE: I have attached several pictures to help.

REMOVAL
Remove the screws and lower the instrument panel steering column cover.

Reposition the instrument panel finish panel.
1 Remove the screw.
2 Disengage the clips and reposition the instrument panel finish panel away from the instrument panel.

Push in on the retaining tabs and remove the automatic temperature control sensor hose and elbow from the instrument panel finish panel. To remove the in-car temperature sensor, push in on the retaining tabs and remove from the trim panel.

Remove the screws and reposition the radio chassis.

Remove the screws and pull the electronic automatic temperature control module from the instrument panel.

Remove the electronic automatic temperature control module.
Remove the nuts and the vacuum harness connector.
Remove the electrical connectors and remove the electronic automatic temperature control module.

Once the unit is removed, check for damaged, cracked, or disconnected vacuum lines. Additionally, check to make sure there is a vacuum supply coming from the engine.

INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Here are the directions for removing the blend air door actuator. I listed them 2nd because since the air flow direction isn't working, I really feel the problem is with the vacuum control switch (1st set of directions). Regardless, here they are.

REMOVAL

Remove the instrument panel insulator.
1 Remove the pushpins.
2 Disconnect the courtesy light and remove the instrument panel insulator.
Remove the floor console.

Remove the screws and remove the cover.

Remove the A/C electronic door actuator motor.
Disconnect the connector.
Remove the screws and remove the A/C electronic door actuator motor.
INSTALLATION

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

The last 4 pictures are related to this process.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Cheers,
Joe
