Air conditioner suddenly blowing hot air

My air conditioner suddenly started blowing very hot air. I hadn't noticed any weakness in the cooling prior to this happening. Also when the air is completely off I smell a slight chemical smell in the cabin.

Does it feel like the heater is on or the air conditioner is just not working? If the heater is on, then you may have a temperature blend door actuator that is not working. If the air is not working, chances are you need to service the system with a simple recharge. Here is a video to show how to recharge the system with the blend door actuator location in the diagrams below:
