On Saturday AC worked perfectly. On Sunday while at highway speeds and one hundred degree outside temperatures, the AC started cycling from cold to not so cold and back to cold again. Then stopped blowing cold air all together.

Tried to diagnose the problem and found that when the AC is turned on, the AC clutch tries to engage and you hear the pully and compressor begin to wind up then it disengages. Checked the fuses for the compressor and the AC clutch and both are good. I have a feeling it is a short or a bad relay but unsure where to look. I have been trying to research this issue with other Malibu and have found reference to a climate control switch that could be the cause of the problem. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Good morning.

The first thing I would do is to check the pressures in the system. You have high and low pressure that makes the system work. If the Freon level is low, it will turn or cycle the clutch as you have now.
