Air conditioners dial not working properly?

When I try to turn the A/C to max cool it stops halfway with heavy resistance but when I try the same for max heat it works fine. Same with the other two dials. The airflow and temperature works fine as I get both cold and heat.

This sounds like a mechanical problem like cable issue here is how the system works, you may need to lubricate the cable or it might be weak and got bent or just worn out.
