Our air conditioner was working fine this morning and by afternoon was blowing hot air. With the hood up I cannot hear the compressor kicking on. Checked the guage and tried adding charge and the gauge is all the way to the right in red. Any ideas? Thanks

You could be overcharged now because the charge could have been correct before you started adding charge. So was the radiator and air conditioner condenser fans running with the air conditioner on?

No, I noticed that the radiator fan was not running. I checked the fuses.

Don't you have two fans one for the radiator and one for the condenser?

If you do not get enough air pulled through the air conditioner wont work right. Was the air conditioner working when driving high speeds before you tried adding air conditioner charge?

Yes, I was driving down the highway all morning and it was cool. By Afternoon it was all hot air. The fans should kick on when I turn off the engine to cool things down correct?

The fans do not always stay on after the engine is turned off. It all depends on the engine coolant temperature when the engine is turned off.

Hi,

If I may, I would do a vacuum down and recharge of the system to remove any contamination. If you have excessive moisture it will cause the pressures to go way up.
