A/C not blowing cold air?

A/C was not cold. I tried Freon but the gauge was beyond max in red range to see mechanic. I replaced very dirty cabin filter. A/C worked for a few minutes then air temperature. Compressor clicks as coming on the off I verified the A/C relay and fuses were good. A/C was working slightly until I fixed it. The air actuator gives hot when turned to heat but just blows air temperature when turned to cold.

The fact that the gauge was in the red means you have too much refrigerant in the system. Here is a video to help you get the correct amount of refrigerant levels:
