After replacing camshaft car will only run if you push the gas

Replaced camshaft (exhaust) now it will not stay running. Checked the timing everything looks good. Cylinders two and three are covered in carbon, one and four covered with fuel and clean. Any ideas?

Good morning,

Did this issue happen prior to the repair?

Did you check the actual compression?

It does sound like timing.

Can you verify the engine? I do not see the 2.0 in 2003.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. Yeah it is a Civic Si hatchback k2083. Timing appears perfect, the car was fine before I replaced the cam. I have not compression but I will after work. Thanks again

Hello again.

There is valve damage inside the motor if you have 0 compression.

The cylinder head will have to be removed and inspected for damage. The valves will most likely need to be replaced and the pistons inspected to be sure they are not damaged.

This will be an expensive repair. You will need to make a decision of whether it is worth repairing this engine or replacing it.
