Engine overheating

After new radiator engine overheated, replaced with 140,000 second hand one. Towing boat had same over heating issues.

thermostat was changed in the replacement engine? water pump ok? cooling fans working? no transmission codes?

Towing anything can be a strain on a engine and transmission, If you go up hills with towing the boat use a lower gear so the engine does not work as hard, When you put a new radiator in did you change the thermastat. Some mechanics advise to change it when ever you drain coolant out of the engine and radiator,,
