Thanks again for all your help with our clutch problem.
Bought backup camera off of eBay, having trouble installing. Directions sketchy. If I wire according to diagram, doesn't work. When I wire monitor to accessory positive and negative, all acc items stop working. If I wire the camera (off of red wire) and the monitor to direct power source and the camera (off of red/black stripe) and monitor to negative ground, I get an image, but it is not orientated properly. Also can you tell me what the small red wires on each end of the camera cable do? Also what the blue wire on the monitor does? See attached pictures.

From your description it sounds like the camera is defective. I would probably return it if possible and get a replacement. They are usually more plug and play that that. Normally you have power to the monitor and the trigger wire from the back up switch that activates the camera and the monitor shows the view.

More likely the camera than the monitor? What about the wiring to the accessory circuit?

If connecting it shuts off the accessory items there is an internal short in the monitor. As for the camera if it doesn't show a correct image it has a problem as well. That is one of the issues with the low cost cameras and accessories, the wiring instructions can be really dicey and they have done damage to vehicles because of that. It's why I suggest returning it and buying something else.

It does produce an image when wired to direct power source though? I'm trying to return.

Thing is that you said the image was wrong as well as having the issue with it shutting off the power. That alone would make me worry as it is grounding out the power and could do damage. Safer to return it and get a different one that has better instructions.
