My old car was firing but not starting. I replaced the fuel pump and it cranked and ran better than it has in months. A day or two later I tried to crank it and it acted like it was not getting gas. I pulled the gas line to the carburetor off and it is definitely getting gas from the fuel pump into the carburetor. It will fire when I prime it with gas into the carburetor but otherwise will not crank. Still acts like it is not getting gas. Thanks

Good morning.

What carburetor do you have? Did you replace the fuel filter in the carburetor?

I do not have any pictures of the old carburetors. If you could upload a picture of the carburetor, it would help.

Hey Roy, I replaced the fuel filter in the carburetor and it cranked right up and ran. Thanks so much for the information. Now I have a small leak of gas coming from where the fuel line goes into the carburetor. I am going to put some pipe tape on that and see if it stops it. Thanks a lot. Bill

You are welcome.

There is a thin washer on the filter adapter. Make sure it is there as that is usually the reason for the leak.

I rechecked that washer and re-positioned it. Looks to have fixed the problem. Thanks again. I cannot wait until something else goes wrong so that I can get your advice, LOL. Bill
