My truck listed above is having cam phaser issues that have become a problem. It also has an oil leak. I'm wondering which would be the best option, to have the issues repaired, or have a new motor put in? I'm just asking for a professional opinion.

Thanks

Yep, with this kind of mileage on the engine it is normal for the phasers to go out. We have a truck we are doing an engine rebuild on in the shop as we speak.

Here is the first video on the series:

As each video comes out you can follow along to help fix your truck by fixing the timing set and phasers or installing a new engine.

Hi,

That's a tough question to answer. What problems are you experiencing? Does the engine use oil or has any other mechanical issues? Is this something that has just started and what symptoms are you noticing?

As far as the cam phaser is concerned, I would rather replace that than the engine. Take a look below. Those are the directions for the cam phaser. Of course, you need to remove the timing chain, but if the engine is still good (other than the phaser), I feel it would be better to replace the timing components and phasers.

Let me know.

Joe
