Does any know how to add refrigerant to the A/C system? My A/C blows cool air but it’s not as cold as it used to be and I suspect it might be low on refrigerant, I’m just curious if someone knows how to add refrigerant if it’s low.

Hello,

If the Freon is low on the A/C system, it can be added through the port on the low-pressure A/C hose.
If it hasn't been converted over, your 1993 Camry likely has an R12 A/C system. In which case you will first have to change it to the R134a system.
So, step one would be to see what the type of A/C system in your car is. If it has been converted over then there should be a sticker somewhere under the hood.

Take a look at this guide. It shows what to do to add refrigerant to the A/C system. Keep in mind you will need to check the pressure of the system before adding. As adding too much can damage the components.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Thanks for the info. I don’t believe it has ever been converted over to R134. How come I can’t just add R12 refrigerant to the existing system?

You cannot buy R12 refrigerant. It is only available to licensed businesses due to being a hazmat item.
Most auto parts stores will have conversion kits that can be installed (see picture below), which is simply a few adapters. Then the system will have to be evacuated the R12 and put in the 134a.
