Catalytic converter glows red
smokes badly
and smells like burning asbestos.

Proberbly a tune related problem, often can be over rich mixture, start with checking tune and for leaking injectors, also scan for fault codes, start here.

Has carburetor. Just replaced. tested and ad
justed at remanufacturing facility..

That is over heating fairly sure it will be in the fuel suystem
